Purbeck Keystone Project

The Purbeck Keystone Project is a three year project with clear objectives that are grouped under three main headings: Natural Landscape, Cultural Landscape and Outdoor Learning. The Project started work in October 2006.

The Project relies on a wide range of community partners and volunteers to work together to provide a long-term, self-sustainable future for the unique landscapes of Purbeck.

Purbeck has a natural environment that ranks amongst the highest for quality in England and Europe. The long-term future of Purbeck's rich flora and fauna and the variety of habitats that exist depends on the successful cooperation of the farming community and conservation bodies. Purbeck farmers already contribute significantly to the successful stewardship of the landscape. The Keystone Project seeks to support farming practices that encourage biodiversity and maintain the increasingly rare habitats found in Purbeck.
