Project Description

This Project is a collection of initiatives along the Stanley Burn valley enhancing and developing the area's habitats and extending and improving the access pathways around South Stanley, Quaking Houses, South Moor, Craghead and New Kyo.

The habitat work includes woodland creation, development and management, heathland creation and stream restoration. This is occurring at five sites. Two sites have been bought by the project: Greencroft by Grounwork West Durham and Darlington and Langley View by the Great North Forest.

The access work is creating approximately 1,000 metres of new pathways, including strategic links between regional networks including: Kyo Greenways, South Stanley Green Corridor, the Consett and Sunderland Railway Path (C2C) and the Tyne and Wear trail.
