Project Description
The Harehope Quarry Project provides an exciting and practical demonstration of a more sustainable way of living and providing eco-educational facilities.
A Workers' Co-operative - The Harehope Quarry Project Ltd - is developing the site. The elements of the project funded by the Mineral Valleys Project are:
- Bringing part of the quarry site into management as a nature reserve and implementing a site management plan.
- The construction of an eco-education classroom, using self-build techniques. This will act as a base for environmental education, rural skills training and community sustainability projects.

Start date: July 2003
End date: May 2008
