Project Description
Connecting Communities is a series of inter-related initiatives, improving access to and information about social and natural heritage sites within Weardale.
The Project has three complementary parts:
Weardale Settlements
This will address access issues around the dale, increasing the ability of local people and visitors to reach heritage points of interest and interpreting them through strategically placed information boards.
Weardale Wanders
This will assist the Weardale Society in the production of two books about the social and natural history of Weardale. These will include:
- The Geology of Weardale
- The Architecture and Archaeology of Weardale
Each book will include sites of interest to visit, which show examples of their subject matter.
The Bishop's Backyard
Working with pupils from Wolsingham School and Community College to research and produce a new film about the influence of the Prince Bishops on Weardale.
