Project Description

This project focuses on providing key habitats and species with a sustainable future through encouraging the participation of local communities, in particular children, to understand their importance and the issues affecting them.

The habitats the project encourages action for are: upland oak woodlands and Juniper scrub.

The species the project is working to help are: barn owl, brown hare and small pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly.

Each strand of the project uses innovative ways to encourage and inspire local people to become involved in action for wildlife to achieve the following:

  • Planting of 3 hectares of new upland oak woodland
  • Planting of 5 hectares of juniper scrub
  • 3 sites for small pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly
  • The project will involve at least 15 schools in Action for Wildlife projects
  • Over 50 landowners will be engaged in action for wildlife projects
  • 1500 brown hare leaflets will be distributed to landowners
