Natural England is encouraging children from across Derbyshire to go wild at the Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve (NNR) family picnic on Wednesday 1 September!
Families should bring their own picnic to the event, where kids can take part in a wide range of environmental activities – including environmental art and environmentally-themed games with hoops, bean bags and balls.
Community Outreach Adviser, Paul Maddox, said: “This event provides children with the opportunity to get inspiration from nature to create art. They get to use natural materials to create their own works of art, which they can then take home with them. We also run a wide range of environmentally-themed games – which are designed to get kids really connected with nature.”
The day will run from 11am until 2pm on Wednesday 1 September. Natural England staff and volunteers will be on hand to help. All activities are free and booking is recommended.
Meet at the start of the reserve path at the Monyash end of Dale. Follow the main road out of Bakewell towards Monyash. Park at the side of road where it dips - about half a mile before Monyash, by the public toilets.
The event is suitable for children of all ages and is part of Natural England’s Let’s Go Wild events, which will be held throughout the year at Derbyshire Dales NNR, as it celebrates the International Year of Biodiversity.
