Natural England are encouraging children from around Derbyshire to get art and about as it hosts a day packed with free art activities at Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve (NNR) on Thursday 26 August!
Kids will get to choose from a wide range of environmental art activities, including landscape drawing, making mobiles out of natural materials, making leaf slides and even creating their own nature-themed, Andy Goldsworthy, works of art!
Community Outreach Adviser, Paul Maddox, said: “This event will provide children with the opportunity to get inspiration from nature to create art. They will get to use natural materials to create their own works of art, which they can then take home with them.”
The day will run from 11am until 4pm on Thursday 26 August and families are welcome to drop in at any point during the day. Natural England staff and volunteers will be on hand to help. All activities are free and booking is recommended.
To find the event base, go to Over Haddon car park (charge) and follow the side lane to the reserve gate and follow the track for a quarter of a mile. The event base will be visible by the track just beyond the pillars of the old aqueduct.
“Art and about” is one of the first of Natural England’s Let’s Go Wild events to take place at the reserve during the year, as it celebrates the International Year of Biodiversity. To find out more, visit Natural England’s Events Finder
