Explore Kent’s interactive map to help you find your way.
Explore Kent
have developed an interactive map, a fantastic resource for planning your visits to attractions in Kent. You can zoom in and out and you will discover footpaths that you never even knew existed. You might also be surprised how many good links there are to a local green space that is on your doorstep. Why not look for some of the cycle routes that might pass by your home, a great excuse to dust down the bike and enjoy your local countryside.
Walking and cycling to your local green space is not only a great way to keep fit and relax but leaving the car at home is also better for the environment. To explore places further afield why not consider combining a bus or rail trip with a walk.
We have produced green travel plans for Wye: (953kb)
, Stodmarsh: (1.25mb)
and Ham Street Woods: (1.75mb)
to help you organise your visit.
The sustainable transport map: (1.73mb)
for Kent might also help you plan your days out and will help you take advantage of our cycling offer below.
Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve is one of the best places in the country to enjoy the outdoors and experience spectacular wildlife. Even better it is on your doorstep if you enjoy cycling and it is easily accessed from National Cycle Network 1. You’ll find a walkers’ shelter if you need to rest those legs when you arrive and bike racks are available to safely secure your bike while you have a look around.
So....if you haven’t been to Stodmarsh, why not give it a go on your bike and let us know what you think by emailing wildside@naturalengland.org.uk In return we’ll give you something back.
We are working jointly with the Wildwood Trust (www.wildwoodtrust.org
) to promote greener travel. All you need to do is cycle to Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve, take a photo of you and your bike at the reserve and then email us about your visit, attaching the photo. In return we will give you one free child ticket (worth £7.95) to Wildwood, for use with a full paying adult ticket. The ticket can be redeemed until 31st December 2010.
Due to the special interests the site is important for, you can’t cycle on the reserve, but it is well worth you stopping off, securing the bike and getting to know this wonderful place. Cycle racks are located in both car parks.
