The ‘deposit period’ (30 January to 16 March 2012) has now ended. Once Defra have considered all the representations, it is expected that the Secretary of State will make a statement regarding the way forward. We will publish any announcement here as soon as it is available.
On 30 January 2012 Natural England placed the following Orders (see main page) on deposit for public inspection:
The Orders are about to be submitted to the Secretary of State for her consideration. Anybody may make written representations (whether to object, support or suggest amendments) to the Secretary of State by 16 March 2012.
After the end of the deposit period the Secretary of State will give consideration to all objections, and may hold a public inquiry. A public inquiry must be held if a County or District Council with land in the National Park or the proposed extensions objects and does not withdraw its objection. The Secretary of State may then decide whether to confirm the Orders. She may also make modifications to the Orders.
The deadline for representations is 16 March 2012. Any representation (whether to object, support or suggest amendments) may be sent in writing, stating the grounds on which they are made, to:
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Protected Landscapes Team, Zone 1/09, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6EB.
Representations may also be sent by e-mail to nwvariationorders@defra.gsi.gov.uk
Copies of maps showing the boundaries (and written descriptions) may be downloaded
from our maps page or by clicking on the thumbnail map image.
Copies of the Orders may be downloaded here:
These documents may also be viewed at many libraries close to the affected areas as well as Natural England, County Council and National Park Authority offices (Opening Hours: Mon to Fri 0930 – 1700 unless stated otherwise), between 30 January and 16 March 2012.
