Natural England - Demonstrate support for Natural England’s objectives

Demonstrate support for Natural England’s objectives

Natural England has a wide remit with regard to the countryside, wildlife and marine conservation, and access to a large and diverse audience.

Our brand offers emotional and patriotic resonance with the beautiful English countryside, and there are a wide range of marketing and sponsorship opportunities from national to very local. Many of our programmes have never been sponsored before, so this offers a unique and untapped opportunity for businesses that share our vision.

The benefits we think your business could receive as a commercial sponsor or marketing partner with Natural England are:

  • access to new audiences

  • evidence of your commitment to green issues and corporate social responsibility to your investors, customers and stakeholders

  • association with activities of current public interest

  • being seen as a good place to work by current and future employees

We reach out to:

  • people who make 5 million visits to our National Nature Reserves each year

  • people who make 12 million visits to the National Trails each year, and the 30,000 National Trails’ walkers registered for regular updates

  • some of the 20 million people visiting the coast each year

  • 60,000 farmers and land managers signed up to an Environmental Stewardship scheme

  • 500 farm walks and events every year, reaching 10,000 farmers and advisors

  • 32,000 participants in a Walking for Health scheme each week and the 16,000 active volunteer walk leaders

  • 16,000 Local planning officers (in our role as statutory consultee on planning applications)

  • homeowners, developers, farmers and fisheries to whom we issue 8000 wildlife licences

  • people through 200+ media articles each year

  • people through contributions to 20 peer reviewed scientific papers and journals

These are a few examples of programmes and assets where we’re interested in attracting commercial sponsorship:

  • National Nature Reserves – Natural England is responsible for the management of 222 National Nature Reserves visited by 5 million people a year. We are currently enhancing the access and accessibility of a number of the most highly visited reserves and are actively seeking sponsorship for better visitor facilities, information provision and interpretation at these sites.

  • National Trails – Natural England looks after the 13 National Trails, which are long-distance routes for walking, cycling or horse-riding through the finest landscape in England and Wales. Our National Trails website has just been included in the Times Top 100 travel sites and 30,000 people are registered on the site for regular Trails updates.

  • Walking for Health - Strongly supported by the Department for Health, Natural England runs the largest programme promoting and setting the standards for led health walks. Running for eight years, Walking for Health has encouraged more than 500,000 sedentary people to walk more, with around 32,000 people walking every week to benefit their health.

  • The Big Wildlife Garden –This innovative website creates a network of gardens and open spaces and encourages people of all ages to discover how to attract more wildlife into their gardens. The Big Wildlife Garden is part of our One Million Children Outdoors programme.

  • Coastal Access – the Marine and Coastal Access bill will enable Natural England to create a continuous walking route around the coast of England. This new, National Trail standard route will enable the public to access the coast with confidence, and enjoy some changing and frequently dramatic landscapes/seascapes.

  • The Marine Campaign – as part of its Marine Campaign Natural England is running a series of engaging interactive pubic events to reveal the fantastic and captivating underwater landscapes, creatures and plants that reside around England’s coast.

  • The Countryside Code – We’d like to update the Countryside Code, building on the investment we’ve already made to convey the required messages.

  • Conferences – we organise a number of specialist conferences every year, on subjects such as climate change adaptation, marine protected areas, green infrastructure in cities and towns.
